Experimental book design

Hunger is a short story from the book “Mysterious Buenos Aires”, by Manuel Mujica Lainez (Argentinian, 1910-1984). The is a dramatic narrative based on true events set in 1536. As the city of Buenos Aires was being founded, Spanish conquistadors become the prey of the hungry masses just outside their protected walls.

The book's conceptual design is based on the fences that kept the Spanish insulated from the outside, even while madness and hunger created a horror story inside.

The handcrafted book is one of a kind, with the front and back covers laser-engraved. For the inner book pages, textured and handcrafted paper were utilized.
